Triple H is tijdens SummerSlam de special guest referee in de WWE Championship Match tussen John Cena en Daniel Bryan. Dat heeft WWE bekendgemaakt tijdens Monday Night Raw.
Verder zijn er tijdens Raw twee nieuwe matches aan de line up van SummerSlam toegevoegd. United States Champion Dean Ambrose verdedigt zondag zijn titel tegen Rob Van Dam in de SummerSlam Kick Off Match. RVD wist tijdens Raw een Number One Contender Battle Royal te winnen. Ook nemen Natalya en Brie Bella het tegen elkaar op in Los Angeles. De twee voormalige Divas Champions spelen momenteel een belangrijke rol in de reality show Total Divas.
